Hyaluronic acid
A biodegradable gel used, depending on its formulation, for selected volumes, contours, folds or hollows. Its natural presence in the body does not make an injection risk-free.
Hyaluronic acid guideInformation and guidance on cosmetic surgery and aesthetic medicine in Tunisia
Hyaluronic acid, facial volume restoration, lip enhancement, tear troughs and profile balancing all fall under the broad term “dermal fillers.” This guide explains what fillers can and cannot do, their risks, and what to check before a consultation in Tunisia.
A filler is a injectable filler used to support tissues, restore volume or reduce certain hollows and folds. Hyaluronic acid is frequently used, but not all gels have the same properties or the same indications.
A consultation should not begin with “how many syringes?” It should begin with an assessment of anatomy, facial movement, skin quality, previous treatments and the desired outcome. Volume loss, muscle activity and excess skin require different approaches.

The product family affects how the treatment works, evolves and is managed if a complication occurs. A brand name never replaces a clear medical explanation.

Hyaluronic acid guideSome injectables are intended to stimulate a gradual tissue response rather than create immediate volume. Their treatment schedule and reversibility differ from hyaluronic acid fillers.
Their permanence can make late adverse effects more difficult to manage. French health authorities advise against their routine aesthetic use, so they are not presented here as a standard option.
The same facial area may require filler, another treatment, or no injection at all. The topics below explain common goals without implying that filler is always appropriate.
Some folds are caused by volume loss, skin changes, muscle activity, or a combination of factors.
Facial wrinkle fillersTreatment may address definition, proportion, asymmetry or volume, with a plan adapted to individual anatomy.
Lip fillersThe under-eye area requires careful selection: eye bags, pigmentation and swelling do not respond to filler in the same way as a true hollow.
Under-eye treatmentVolume loss should be assessed within the overall balance of the face rather than by filling every hollow.
Temple fillersA non-surgical rhinoplasty adds volume and cannot make the nose smaller; some concerns are better treated surgically.
Non-surgical rhinoplastyFiller may be considered for selected volume loss or deformity after a local examination.
Earlobe fillers| Approach | Main goal | What it does not replace | How results evolve |
|---|---|---|---|
| Filler | Filling, support or volume restoration depending on the product. | Surgical tightening of significant excess skin. | An initially visible effect that changes over time depending on the gel and area. |
| Skin booster / biorevitalization | Skin hydration and quality, depending on the protocol. | True volume correction or surgery. | Usually a gradual protocol that may require repeat sessions. |
| Botulinum toxin | Temporary reduction of selected muscle activity. | Restoration of missing volume. | Temporary results with different indications. |
| Facial surgery | Surgical correction of structures, excess skin or volume. | A simpler injectable treatment when it is sufficient. | A different recovery, risk profile and duration of effect. |
A filler injection in Tunisia remains an invasive act. Redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising or transient irregularity may occur. Other complications are less common but more serious: infection, inflammatory reaction, nodules, granuloma, necrosis or vascular damage.
Accidental injection into a blood vessel can reduce the blood supply to tissue. Some facial areas also carry a very rare but serious risk of eye complications. The risk cannot be described as completely avoidable; prevention depends on medical training, anatomical knowledge, technique, product choice and rapid recognition and management of adverse events.
Unusual or increasing pain, blanching or discoloration of the skin, visual symptoms, neurological weakness, a severe reaction or signs of infection require immediate contact with the injector and, depending on the symptoms, emergency medical care.
Hyaluronidase can sometimes dissolve hyaluronic acid in a medical setting. This does not mean every result can be easily reversed or that every complication is reversible. Non-hyaluronic fillers do not respond to this enzyme.
A reliable rate doesn't just depend on the name of the area. The price of a filler injection in Tunisia varies depending on the product, quantity, indication, anatomical complexity, consultation and follow-up included.
